Discover Musical Theatre with MSTYP - a new class for primary students!

Develop creativity, confidence, and collaboration through the art of musical theatre. Each week, students work with a professional Teaching Artist to explore acting, singing, and movement in a supportive, creative environment.

From learning musical theatre techniques and stagecraft to exploring text, song interpretation, improvisation, and ensemble performance, students are encouraged to find their unique voice and work together to bring stories to life on stage. This class nurtures self-confidence and a deep understanding of what it means to be a musical theatre performer.

Skills we will learn together

• Explore musical theatre by combining acting, singing, and movement to tell stories on stage
• Use creative thinking to build fun characters and exciting scenes
• Learn about feelings and motivations to make songs and performances more expressive
• Practice improvisation and teamwork through games, ensemble work, and taking safe performance risks
• Build confidence and stage presence by performing and sharing ideas with others
• Singing solo and in a group: Learn to perform confidently on your own and blend with others in ensemble songs
• Introduction to vocal harmonies
• Use your voice and body with control, projection, and expression, including singing, movement, and dance
• Developing basic script and score skills, including introduction to text and lyric analysis and making strong performance choices

TIME:      ..    4-5:30pm, Thursdays - one class a week.

AGE GROUP:   Students in School Years 3-6 in 2026

2026 MSTYP Semester 1 dates

Term 1: Thursday 12th February – Thursday 2nd April (8 weeks)

Term 2: Thursday 30th April - Thursday 18th June (8 weeks)

End of Term Performance

In the final week of each term, students will have the opportunity to showcase their newly developed skills. The last class will feature an Open Studio, where family and friends are invited to watch a demonstration or performance that the students have been working towards.

Cost:

TERM:                                  $255 for 8 weeks

SEMESTER:                         $484.50 for 16 weeks (5% discount)

TRIAL CLASS:                .… Free for new students
