What is EMERGE?

EMERGE is an advanced training program for young performers ready to elevate their craft. Designed for passionate and dedicated students, this course offers intensive training in movement, voice, acting, and ensemble work, led by industry director, Jo Bradley.

Participants will have the opportunity to develop original and scripted work, with pathways toward public performance as opportunities arise.

Entry is by audition only.

Audition Details

No prior experience necessary! The audition will run in a group setting in a relaxed and supportive environment. We strongly encourage students who identify as First Nations, PoC, CaLD, LGBTQIA+, living with a disability and gender-diverse to apply.

TIME: 6:15-8:15pm

LOCATION: Living Hope Anglican, Killara (Main Hall). 9B Arnold Street, Killara.

AGE: Students in Secondary School 2025

COST: Free to audition. If successful in gaining a position, the EMERGE courses are fee-based.

PREPARATION: We ask that all students prepare a monologue (2 minutes maximum). This can be Shakespeare or Contemporary. There will also be group activities as part of the audition. We ask that all participants wear clothes they can move in.

If you cannot attend the audition on Monday 21st July, please see the self tape instructions below:

• Please start with a short introduction including your name, school year and availability for Monday evening rehearsals
• Film a 2 minute (maximum) monologue of your choice
• There is no need for fancy lighting, backdrop, sound or camera (your phone is fine!) we just want to see and hear you
• Shoot in landscape orientation
• Please upload the self tape and send the link (youtube, vimeo, google drive etc) to info@mstyp.org.au. Please let us know if you have added a password if the link is private
• Cut off date for submission is Monday 21st July 6pm

Emerge Ensemble Details

COMMITMENT: Emerge is MSTYP's senior ensemble and a higher level of commitment is required for this class. Multiple unexplained absences will result in losing performance opportunities, and eventual dismissal from the ensemble if necessary.

TIME: 6:15pm-8:15pm, 8 ongoing weeks per term

LOCATION:  Living Hope Anglican, Main Hall. 9B Arnold St, Killara.

2025 MSTYP Semester 2 dates

Term 3: Monday 28th July - Monday 15th September (8 classes)

Term 4: Monday 20th October - Monday 8th December (8 classes)

End of Year Showcase: Saturday 13th December (students will be allocated a performance time slot at the start at term 4)

End of Year Showcase

MSTYP will be bringing together all of our drama classes for an end of year sharing to showcase our wonderful young people!

Date: Saturday 13th December

Location: Ku-Ring-Gai Town Hall, 1186 Pacific Highway, Pymble

Time: TBC (a performance time slot will be allocated for this Ensemble and will be confirmed at the start of term 4)

Cost

EMERGE is billed per Semester.

SEMESTER FEE: $610 (16 weekly classes: 8 weeks for term 3 and 8 weeks for term 4)
