Develop creativity, confidence and collaboration through drama. Learn about acting and performance in a creative environment.
Every week, students work with a professional Teaching Artist to develop acting, collaboration and creative skills, building self-confident expression in voice and body whilst developing an understanding of the forms and traditions of theatre.
Our Youth Ensembles are for secondary students in years 7+. From exploring different theatre forms to developing skills in stagecraft, physical theatre, text and script analysis, improvisation and self-devised work, our youth are encouraged to use their creative voice and collaborate as an ensemble to discover what it means to be theatre makers.
Course Components
- Investigate traditional forms of theatre
- Examine, respond to and analyse existing stories
- Respond to recorded performances and theatre works using observational investigative thinking
- Create theatre that occurs within and outside conventional spaces
- Scene work– script breakdown, intentions and obstacles, given circumstances, stagecraft
- Respond to a text through staging and devising
- Train as an ensemble
- Voice and movement training
- Performance delivery and creation
- Improvisation
No experience necessary

End of Year Showcase: Saturday 13th December (students will be allocated a performance time slot at the start at term 4)

MSTYP will be bringing together all of our drama classes for an end of year sharing to showcase our wonderful young people!
Date: Saturday 13th December
Location: Ku-Ring-Gai Town Hall, 1186 Pacific Highway, Pymble
Time: TBC (a performance time slot will be allocated for this class and will be confirmed at the start of term 4)
Not available at this time? Don't worry! You can still enrol - our experienced Teaching Artists will ensure your young person will build the skills ready to perform, even though they won't be present for the actual performance, and performance preparation will only take up a small portion of the class.
