MONOLOGUE MASTERCLASS: School Years 7-12 KILLARA

Spend 2 full days with an industry director to master your monologue skills!
Is there a character you have always been excited to play? Do you have an audition or assessment coming up that you want some feedback and guidance for? Are you looking to grow your public speaking confidence and acting skills? Join us for this 2 day event: no prior experience necessary!
Students are welcome to bring monologues and IPs they are currently working on at school or monologues and texts they are interested in. The course facilitator will also bring in materials.
Course Content
- Defining different types of monologues: Contemporary, Classical, Shakespearean, Comedic, Dramatic and more
- Script analysis: investigating the writers choice of words, punctuation and defining dramatic beats
- Breaking down the given circumstance of the piece: who, what, where, when, why
- Exploring the connection between a character's thoughts to enhance the performance range and dynamics
- Investigation of character objectives, obstacles and connecting with their emotional world
- Identifying subtext in a monologue: what the character is saying vs what they might really mean
- Group and partner work to assist with vocal targeting and intention during a monologue
- 'Cold Reads': reading a monologue for the first time and performing off instinct and improvisation
- Exploring how monologues may be evaluated in auditions and assessments
- Daily vocal and physical warm ups to assist in developing voice and movement skills for the young actor
- Opportunity to collaborate with young artists and give and receive encouraging feedback

Please use the street parking, there are many parks available! Please do NOT park on St Martins Church Driveway.
