Discover the Performing Arts

Develop creativity, confidence and collaboration through drama. Learn about acting and performance in a creative performing environment.

Every week, students work with a professional Teaching Artist to develop acting, collaboration and creative skills, building self-confidence expressivity in voice and body while developing an understanding of the forms and traditions of theatre. 

Our Youth Ensemble are for students in years 7+ in secondary school. From exploring different theatre forms to developing skills in stagecraft, physical theatre, text and script analysis, improvisation and self-devised work, our youth are encouraged to use their creative voice and collaborate as an ensemble to discover what it means to be theatre makers.

Course components

• Investigate traditional forms of theatre
• Examine, respond to and analyse existing stories
• Respond to recorded performances and theatre works using observational investigative thinking
• Create theatre that occurs within and outside conventional spaces
• Scene work– script breakdown, intentions and obstacles, given circumstances, stagecraft
• Respond to a text through staging and devising
• Train as an ensemble
• Voice and movement training
• Performance delivery and creation
• Improvisation

No experience necessary

Class Details

DAY        3:30 - 5:30pm, Tuesdays, one class a week

LOCATION Wahroonga Adventist School, The Wedge Room

TRIAL CLASS   Anytime throughout the term (When booking here and select 'Pay a Deposit' to reserve your place)

Performances

There is an Open Studio at the end of Term 4 and an informal performance at the end of Term 4.

TERM                                          $337.50 for 9 weeks (1 term). Book 2 terms and save 10%.

TRIAL CLASSES                        $37.50 throughout the term term. Amount paid is taken off semester or term fee if you continue.
