Drama: Y4 to 6 - Tuesdays: Asquith (9 Classes)
Weekly drama classes for new and continuing students
Learn to act, create and perform. Develop creativity, confidence and collaboration through drama.
Every week, students work with a professional Teaching Artist to build acting, performance and creative skills, whilst also developing a deeper understanding of the world and of themselves.
Y4-6 focus is: Storytelling, Devised Theatre, and Introduction to Scripts
In this class students are encouraged to explore their imagination to the fullest whilst developing voice, movement, character, and stagecraft skills. Every week they build their confidence and creative expression whilst developing their performance skills in improvisation, devising (performance creation), and retelling of stories.
Course components
- Investigating character and stories through improvisation
- Working as an ensemble, collaborating with others
- Using your voice and body - diction, projection, body awareness
- Questioning of creative content; the big, the small, the why and the how
- Discovering the elements of play building
- Investigating character and relationships, situation, voice, movement, space and time, language and texts
- Scene work- understanding the scene, becoming a character, working with a scene partner, staging a scene, taking direction
- Turning a text into a performance and creating a performance from scratch
No experience necessary.
Class Details
DAY 4-5pm, Tuesdays, one class a week
LOCATION Asquith Public School, 3 Dudley St, Asquith, Sydney - this class accepts students both at Asquith Public School and from other schools

Performances
There is an Open Studio at the end of Term 2, and an informal performance at the end of Term 4.
Cost
TERM $225 for 9 weeks (1 term)
