Creative thinking, emotional resilience and confidence – these are skills for life!

Ideal for teenagers looking for a creative outlet on the weekend, many students (not all) will already have some experience with drama. This class helps young people gain knowledge into the disciplines of theatrical techniques and conventions, as well as practical skills in performance. This class goes further though, developing the disciplines of script work, stage techniques and play production.

TIME 3.30pm - 5.30pm
DAY Every week on a Saturday

• Improvisation – how to work with the unknown! Tutors will often introduce students to ‘Theatre Sports’ exercises, and develop more advanced improvisations with students
• Devised Theatre – different ways of making theatre and working in a group, as well as utilising the performance space to create interesting, dynamic prepared performance pieces
• Collaboration – different ways of working together in a group to develop performance pieces
• Scripted work – the disciplines of scripted work including how to approach scripts with vocal techniques, and how to physically dramatize the words through blocking (movement direction on stage)
• Play production – creative problem solving to produce work on stage, as well as basic elements of costuming and set

Each class begins with a vocal and physical warm-up.

Drama can also be a great way to find your tribe of other like-minded young people. The class is limited to 16 students – we believe small classes are the best way to learn drama!

This class develops a performance piece in the last term of the year to be performed for family and friends. This is performed within class time.

Save $50 on your Term 4 enrolment if you enrol now - add this on at the payment section.

We invite students over 12 years to audition for our Children’s Theatre productions. We have two or three children’s productions each year, often based on classic fairy tales or more contemporary stories. Students are given audition dates by their tutors throughout the year.

We have a welcoming environment for new students, and encourage joining at the beginning of Term 1, Term 2 and Term 3. We do not take enrolments during Term 4 as the students are working on their final performances then. There is a one-off new student enrolment fee of $16.50.
